Welcome back to Chapter 8 of the Amethyst Legacy! Last chapter our founder, Robin, finally passed and our poor Alexandrite had happiness ripped from him. He died in a fire, leaving behind a newlywed wife and a daughter, Peridot.
But a few joyous occasions followed the tragedy.
Apparently, Alyssa was a lot older than she let on.
Soon it was Peridot's turn to enter her teen years. Look at that smile!
Well that didn't last long. Peridot missed her father terribly. She was alone with nothing but an evil mother, an uncle who hated kids, and an aunt who was pregnant with a child who would no doubt take her place.
Aww Peridot..
She would not open her eyes...not sure why. She's cute though. She ended up with the green thumb trait.
Peridot spent her nights following in her grandmother's footsteps and grieving for her father.
Topaz felt the loss of both his mother and brother as well, but he had another surprise that was about to take up quite a lot of his attention.
Patricia had gone into labor...
"Shut up! No one can hear my music with your screaming..."
Our dear Alyssa seemed to get more and more evil with each passing day.
And for some reason there was an old people glitch in my game...
Patricia gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Please meet Gemma Amethyst. She was born with the virtuoso and evil traits. Yikes! (My first evil child I might add)
Patricia proved to be a loving mother
And even Alyssa had taken quite a liking to Gemma. (the evil trait perhaps?)
I don't think Peridot was too keen on that though.
It was just as she'd thought. With a new baby, she was forgotten. "If dad was here, he'd care," she thought.
As if he knew, Alexandrite chose that night to appear.
Alyssa placed a flower beside her husbands grave, but a strange urge to enter the house over came her.
They embraced and caught up on a few things...
"Are you kidding me? He runs to make out with mom? What about consoling his daughter, huh?" Peridot vented.
Unfortunately for Peridot, dawn came to soon, forcing Alexandrite to return to the Netherworld.
The following day it was Gemma's birthday.
I do believe she's even cuter than Peridot and even her father when he was a toddler! *squee* Daddy's green eyes and mama's blonde hair.
Patricia really was a wonderful mother, putting all of her child's needs first.
Possibly making up for Topaz's lack of involvement.
Of course, he had a hand in other aspects....

That same day Peridot brought a friend home from school.
Apparently, she wasn't a shy girl (stupid CC)
Meanwhile Topaz had joined the military career track and was working on those athletic skills.
I think it genuinely made him happy :)
Working out was the last thing on Patricia's mind...being a slob and all...
Patricia tried to bond with her niece, but I think she disgusted her more than anything.
The following night while Stiles stole the computer...for HOURS
Alexandrite finally visited his daughter.
"I hate it here..." Peridot whispered. Her father patted her head.
"You know," he said. "There was a point in time when I hated it here as well."
Peridot's eyes widened. "What?"
"Sometimes it felt like my parents favored Topaz and Onyx more than me. I felt forgotten." He smiled lovingly at his daughter. "But that's not true and its not true for you."
"How do you know?" Peridot asked sarcasm in her tone.
"Because I've seen the family. They love you. Patricia wouldn't make an effort with you if she didn't care." Alexandrite smiled. "Think about it."
Peridot wasn't sure how to respond. She merely stood there.
Sunlight crept in through the window and Alexandrite vanished.
Following her intense conversation with her father, Peridot felt she needed a new look.
"Hey, your hair looks nice," Topaz said. Even with his dislike of children he tried to talk with his niece on occasion (of his own accord).
"Um...thanks?" Okay, so they still had some kinks to work out in the whole loving family bonding.
Yeah...practice. On a side look. She's lookin' pretty pretty. I'm a little iffie on who to choose as heir though.
After his conversation with Peridot Topaz decided to take his fatherin' skills seriously.
"Come, Gemma, come! Woah, is that a mini horse?"
Still, without too many distractions he was a wonderful father.

Meanwhile, Patricia was jamming out. Another virtuoso I might add.
I'm sure the baby in her womb is enjoying the new sounds...
Anyone recognize this guy?
Peridot seemed quite smitten with him.
Even he seemed taken with her, but there was a barrier. He was an adult and she was a teen, not to mention he was a cop.
In case you still don't recognize him. This is Hank Goddard. The man Peridot's grandmother, Robin, had been tempted to break up with his fiance.. I suppose he likes the Amethyst girls..
Yup, I do believe he does.
Meanwhile, back at home, Patricia had gone into labor..again.
What are you looking at me for? You've done this before...
Once again, Alyssa just couldn't be bothered.
Back in town Peridot was smitten.
Hanging on Hank's every word.
But I don't think Hank's partner was too keen on this.
She arrested Peridot.
Finally, Patricia gave birth to another baby girl. Please meet Diamond Amethyst.
